I would go as far as calling it my favorite TW ever released alongside Warhammer, managing to be better than both Shogun 2 and Rome 2 in my opinion. Total War : Three Kingdoms is a fantastic game. This made people feel less inclined to buy DLC because the actual meaty content was part of the updates anyway. From White Tiger Yan to Cao Cao / Yuan Shao reworks, to Sun Jian new mechanics. It's all about Yuan Shao and Cao Cao which we already had massive sur-representation in the game.Īnd a big issue is actually that a LOT of great content came in the form of free updates and free DLC.

Actually a really good DLC that adds a very interesting start, my favorite of the game actually, and came with an amazing update for both the Wu and Lu Bu. A World Betrayed was probably the best of the bunch.Even today i'm not a fan of the fervour mechanic introduced for the YT. Mandate of Heavens was alright, but plagued with many bugs that made the DLC borderline unplayable at times.Overpriced, lack of content, completely off the map of Three Kingdoms. First, you had Eight Princes, which was terribly received for various reasons.But it was not worth being a twenty dollar expansion.Ī major issue was the DLC just. The only DLC that actually did what people wanted was the DLc that added the tribes to bot left on the game, as it added a bunch of factions, gameplay, and a few lords. Almost all the rest of the DLC was different start dates with one or two lords added in each of them.Įventually CA realized "oh people just wanted more added to the original campaign map" and started doing that with individual lord packs and porting over other DLC units. This basically set up everything else to fail because CA had no idea what they were doing. This DLC pissed off the China community immensely and basically killed it in China. The DLC we got was almost all bad, Eight Princes was an entirely different historical period that had nothing to do with the Three Kingdoms which mean all the thirty some unique lords base game were gone and instead you only got ten unique ones.
